Tips on How to Spring Clean Your Smile

Our dentist, Dr. Brian Kraft, strongly encourages you to spring clean your smile this year. This means you should include your teeth and gums on your spring cleaning to-do list. Spring cleaning your smile can help you have the top-notch oral health you deserve. This can help you avoid dental issues, like gum disease and cavities. So, in order to spring clean your smile, it’s best to do the following things:

-Get a professional dental cleaning: A professional dental cleaning is a great first step for spring cleaning the smile. Our dental team will deeply clean your teeth and gums and remove the plaque, tartar and other harmful substances from the smile. This can help you have a strong and top-notch oral health.

-Replace your toothbrush: Your toothbrush should be replaced every three to four months or after your toothbrush bristles have frayed. If you have been using your toothbrush for awhile or if the bristles are no longer effective, it’s time to replace it. Make sure to replace it with a soft-bristled toothbrush that has been approved by the American Dental Association.

-Clean your retainers and night guards: You can do so by soaking them in denture cleaner or brushing them with a soft-bristled toothbrush and soap or non-abrasive toothpaste. This is recommended because it can remove the plaque buildup on the appliance. Plaque is harmful for the teeth and gums.
